Living in a Forward Oriented World
In a forward-oriented world, we often lose connection with the support behind us — physically and metaphorically.
By the very design of our bodies, our eyes face ahead. We naturally focus on what is in front of us — what comes next, what needs doing, where we are going. Much of modern life reinforces this orientation: working at computers, looking at phones, constantly leaning into the future.
Especially in stressful times, this can contribute to to feeling disconnected.
But what happens when we begin to include what is behind us?
Our back is often outside of conscious awareness (unless we experience back pain in which case we likely have only negative connotations with it), yet it quietly supports us every day.
Bringing in Our Back
Bringing our back more into awareness can help us reconnect with our body in a fuller, more grounded way — inviting greater balance and centeredness.
In this experiential workshop, we will gently explore:
Bringing awareness to the back body and connecting with what is present there
Exploring your body in relationship to space and your environment
Noticing tendencies to lean forward or pull back — physically and emotionally
Discovering centering within your three-dimensional body
Experiencing the back as support — what literally and metaphorically holds us up
Reflecting on who and what stands “behind us” — appreciating those who came before us and the support we carry
Through gentle somatic awareness and embodied exploration, this workshop offers an opportunity to reconnect with yourself in a deeper, more whole way.
A note if you have back pain

I intentionally keep workshop groups small to create a safe, connected, and supportive space for meaningful experience and sharing.
-
Because personal reflection and group interaction are part of the process, workshops will not be recorded. This helps create a private and confidential space where everyone can participate openly and feel comfortable sharing.
If you cannot attend, you can change your booking to a later or different workshop. Please see the Terms and Conditions for details.
-
I kindly ask that participants keep their camera turned on during workshops. This not only fosters connection and presence within the group, but also supports your own experience during somatic practices.
